Thai at Silver Spring

Thai at Silver Spring does not sound like the name of a restaurant, but it is. A very good Thai restaurant at that. My husband and I have eaten here many times. I love the lighting that are over the booths.

Appetizers -
Curry Puff: Thai style curry puff sautéed mince chicken with potato, onion, and carrot in a light yellow curry powder wrapped with wonton skin, deep-fried and served with cucumber sauce.

This was a new appetizer for us. They were pretty good, but the star of the show was the cucumber sauce. It was syrupy consistency with jalapenos and raw onions. It was amazing!

Jacketed Shrimp: Crispy pan fried wrapped shrimp served with sweet and sour sauce.

Another appetizer that was new for me. This was great as well and I would get it again. Nothing special but just plain good.

Noodles and Rice -
Lard Nha: Sautéed rice noodles with a choice of meat (I choose beef) with Chinese broccoli in light brown gravy sauce.

The first time I ordered this, the server warned me that the gravy was not thick, but more runny. I guess they had received some customer feedback that prompted her to "warn" me about the dish. I still wanted it and have no regrets. This was the second time I ordered this dish with beef and the second time I added spice to it. This picture was taken before I added the spice. It is good on its own, but I prefer an extra kick with mine.

Dessert -
Sweet Sticky Rice with Fresh Mango

When they say this the most popular Thai dessert, they mean it. This was so good, I wish I could find it everywhere.
